About the Book
The Haese Mathematics Reader Series Year 1 has been written to share mathematics and literacy with primary students in a beautifully illustrated format. The 14 international stories are acted out by a cast of geographically diverse animals, depicting mathematical concepts in a friendly, accessible way.
Each Reader explores a concept, such as place values or fractions, with key mathematical words, phrases, and symbols introduced and used in the story. The readers use clear, age-appropriate language and pose questions through the stories that allow students to apply their understanding. While these stories have been written with Year 1 students (ages 5 - 7) in mind, they can be flexibly used by students both younger and older than this.
Readers can be explored independently, or with support from guardians or educators. For School use, we recommend our Reader Series Year 1 School Pack, which includes additional material for classroom settings.
The Reader Series Year 1 Pack contains 1 student-sized copy of each of the 14 titles in our Year 1 series, packaged in a sturdy slipcase.
